Young Creators Conference

10 August 2018

It was an exciting morning when we arrived at the Museum of Applied Arts and Sciences to present our work so far at the Young Creators Conference. With a few boxes that included maps, robots and a dismembered mannequin (named Mannie), we entered the exhibition space to begin setting up our display.

The Young Creators Conference is held at MAAS as part of the Sydney Science Festival. We were very excited to take a representative from each group to this conference to present their projects, and also to have a look at what other schools and groups are doing in their STEM work.

Each representative set up their part of the display and took turns in interacting with visitors so that everyone could have a good look around. It was wonderful to see how much each person knew about the other groups and their work. Everyone was able to demonstrate the virtual reality prototype or talk about 3D printing and robotics, even if it wasn't their part of the project.

The morning went very quickly, and the junior curators had a great time enjoying the conference and taking the opportunity to see and learn about projects in other schools. It was also great for them to see how good their project is compared to the work other schools do, and also to look at how a large metropolitan museum displays STEM history. Everyone had a lot of fun.
