Is accessible parking available?

  • Yes, a clearly signposted accessible parking bay located close to the entrance. Drive past the front entrance and turn left.

Is the museum wheelchair accessible?

  • Yes, all public spaces are wheelchair accessible, with access available to all areas by both elevator and pathways.

Are all doors automatic?

  • All doors, except for the entrance to our historic schoolhouse are automatic. Staff are available to assist if required.

Are there accessible toilets?

  • Yes, there is an accessible toilet available near the entrance of the museum.

Is there a hearing loop?

  • No, we do not currently have a hearing loop.

Are audio guides or transcripts available?

  • No, currently we do not have audio guides or transcripts available.

Are seating and rest areas available?

  • Yes, portable lightweight seats are available to visitors at the entrance to the museum. There are rest areas in our Community Education Space, at the end of the upstairs gallery and two benches are located in our garden space.

Is a baby change table available?

  • Yes, there is a baby change table available in the accessible bathroom near the entrance to the museum.

Where can I eat and drink?

  • Water in a secure bottle is allowed in all museum spaces. You can also eat and drink in our Community Education Space. Free water, tea and coffee is also available (donations appreciated).

Are service animals welcome?

  • Trained, registered and visibly identified assistance animals are welcome when accompanied by their handler.

Public Transport

The closest bus stop is on the corner of Heath Street and Urana Street, approximately 800 metres from the museum. Look at the Busabout route and timetable information for today’s services.

Taxis and Rideshares

Taxis and rideshare services can drop visitors directly at the museum entrance. Available services include:

  • Wagga Taxis
  • Uber
  • Didi

Walking

The museum can be reached on foot via established pathways and is approximately a 1.4 km walk from Wagga Wagga Train Station. Please note that some pathways approaching the museum are steep and may be challenging for some visitors.

There are multiple walking pathways connecting the museum to the Wagga Wagga Botanic Gardens and zoo.

Cycling

There is currently no dedicated cycle path to the museum. Bike racks are not currently available on site. You can explore the map of Wagga’s extensive network of cycling and walking trails on Council’s website.

Car Parking

Free on-site parking is available. A signposted accessible parking bay is located close to the entrance, drive past the front entrance and turn left to access this space.

If on-site parking is full, additional parking is available a short walk away within the Wagga Wagga Botanic Gardens.

Bus and Caravan Parking

There is space for buses and caravans on site however, there is no designated bus and caravan parking zone. Please call ahead to reserve a suitable space.

Electric Vehicle Charging

Two dedicated electric vehicle charging spaces are available on site.

Historic Council Chambers Site

Delve into Wagga Wagga’s civic past at Museum of the Riverina’s Historic Council Chambers. Set within a beautifully preserved Victorian Free Classical building, this local landmark hosts a dynamic program of temporary exhibitions spanning culture, history, science and more.

Encounter heritage architecture and a world of new discoveries side by side in one of the city’s most beautiful historic spaces.

  • Most public spaces are wheelchair accessible, however our toilets are difficult to access via wheelchair. The closest accessible toilet is located in the arcade of the Civic Centre, which is located outside and to the right of the entrance to the museum.

  • Our main entrance is automatic, and there are no internal doors separating our main exhibition spaces from the foyer.

Free short-term parking, with several accessible parking bays, is available on Baylis and Morrow Street. Free longer-term parking is available at the Cross Street Public Car Park.

Bus and caravan parking is available a short walk from the museum at 183 Tarcutta Street.
