Nominations Now Open – Sporting Hall of Fame & Local Legends
Wagga Wagga City Council is now accepting nominations for the Wagga Wagga Sporting Hall of Fame, as well as Local Legends.
The Sporting Hall of Fame recognises individuals from Wagga Wagga who have achieved outstanding success at the highest level of their sport, while the Local Legends category celebrates those who have made a significant and sustained contribution to the development and support of local sport within the community.
If you know someone whose sporting achievements or dedication to sport in Wagga Wagga deserves recognition, we encourage you to submit a nomination.
Please note: An athlete must be nominated by their respective sporting club or association for the Sporting Hall of Fame and Local Legend category.
Nominations close on Thursday 31 July 2025.

The City of Good Sports
Established in 1993 by Wagga Wagga City Council, the Sporting Hall of Fame honours the exceptional achievements of local athletes who have reached the highest levels in their chosen sports.
Induction into the Hall of Fame recognises not only sporting excellence but also the positive impact each individual has made on the Wagga Wagga community. Esteemed inductees include sporting greats such as Steve Mortimer, Sally Shipard and Paul Kelly.
A curated selection of memorabilia from Hall of Fame inductees is on display at the Museum of the Riverina's Botanic Gardens site.
