PROBLEM FOUR: Historical mash-ups
STEAM the Museum is an exhibition that sees junior curators from the Opportunity Class at Sturt Public School solve a real problem that the Museum of the Riverina has.
These problems were shown to the class at our first session. Each student then elected their top three problems to work on, and was placed into a group.
Communication and historical 'mash-ups'
Problem
The Museum would like to include an exhibit that shows how communication and writing has changed over time. However, the Museum has already held an exhibition (called Written Worlds) that was a traditional museum display about communication. They are looking for a new angle.
They would like a display that is similar to Horrible Histories and have asked you to imagine how a historic person might communicate, or how an event would be communicated or written about using modern methods. Your display will need to show the original source and your modern reimagining.
Some ideas for mediums to work with:
Diaries
Scrapbooks
Photo collections
Letters and greeting cards
OR you may also like to think about the type of modern media you would like to work with:
Wordpress blog
Digital scrapbooking
Memes
Email/digital communication
Social Media (while you cannot have an account, you may like to think about how these operate and adapt the concept).
