No internet!
14 June 2018
Today, we faced yet another challenge – no internet! Given how dependent our display is on technology, online research and web based programs, it took some thinking to find a way to continue working on our projects today.
A couple of groups were able to hotspot on mobile data and use iPads, but the majority of the groups had to focus on other ways of researching and working. Out came the history books and note books! Some groups were able to sketch out some ideas for their exhibits, and focused on ideating and discussing what steps they might take next. Some groups worked on their written text and others spent the time reading various local history books.
While having no internet did slow us down with our plans for today, it was a great opportunity to demonstrate that not all work has to be completed online. Some of the groups found information that is not accessible online, and so were able to add to their plans using information that they may not have found otherwise.
It also was a valuable lesson in being dependent on technology, and thinking about how our displays might work if the internet goes down at the Museum!
