Sporting Hall of Fame

Sporting Hall of Fame display.

A display of professional sport outfits in the Sporting Hall of Fame display.

In 1993, Wagga Wagga City Council established a Sporting Hall of Fame to recognise the outstanding achievement of Wagga Wagga athletes who have reached the highest level of their chosen sport.

The development guidelines and the nominations are overseen by a Wagga City Council Councilors, Wagga City Council’s Strategic Recreation team and a nominated community representative.

The valuable contribution the nominee has made to both their chosen sport, and to the City of Wagga Wagga, is recognised by acceptance into the Sporting Hall of Fame, which currently features such sports figures as Steve Mortimer, Sally Shipard and Paul Kelly.

A selection of items from Sporting Hall of Fame inductees are on display at the Museum of the Riverina's Botanic Gardens site.

Read about each of the inductees and their sporting endeavours below.
