Shifting deadlines

Shifting, swapping, juggling
This week brought an unexpected change to our schedule.
Some staffing changes meant that we now need to get our content to the graphic designer a month earlier than we had originally planned. This meant that instead of working on our exhibits, and then writing the panels and labels, we now need to take a break from our exhibits and get to work on the writing now.
To get ready for the graphic design stage and writing stage of our project, our graphic designer Sarah came to school for the day to talk about how we use graphic design, how things might be laid out in the display and what type of work a graphic designer can do to help bring an exhibition together.
Maggie and Sarah work on the layout for the Prototype group and look at graphic design options.
Each group had a simple sheet to fill in and start to work out how their exhibit might look. They were to then give the worksheets back to me, so that we could work out what we could afford and what was practical. This activity would have been better with a mentor working with each group. It was probably too big a jump at this stage for all the groups to plan their display when they still hadn't finished their work to go in it.

However, some of the groups really enjoyed the opportunity and came up with some great ideas for their project. The Virtual Reality group sketched a huge wall decal to go behind their small VR station, and the walking tour group thought out a few ways to grab peoples attention and entice them to download the app and take their tour.
