PROBLEM SIX: Wiradjuri story

STEAM the Museum is an exhibition that sees junior curators from the Opportunity Class at Sturt Public School solve a real problem that the Museum of the Riverina has.

These problems were shown to the class at our first session. Each student then elected their top three problems to work on, and was placed into a group.

Problem

Wiradjuri Elder Auntie Flo Grant has entrusted the Museum with a story that was told to her when she was young. It is a Dreaming story about the platypus. Aunt has specified that any museum display using this story should be led by the ideas of the children.

The Museum works closely with local elders, and would like to follow Aunt’s request that this project be led by the students. You may use a combination of technologies and also supplement your project with artworks or graphic design. The only restrictions are that your drafts must be submitted to Aunt for review and approval, and that you need to respect the story that she has provided. Consultation requires time, therefore you must be ready before the other groups and be prepared to change your project if required.
