Pass the Salt
Pass the Salt... Salinity stories from the Wagga Wagga region

Pass the Salt... is an initiative of the National Museum of Australia and the Murray-Darling Basin Commission, in association with the Museum of the Riverina. It is an innovative project for exploring the diverse cultural impacts of salinity on people from Wagga Wagga and surrounding areas. The Wagga Wagga community is widely recognised as a leader in its response to salinity, and the Pass the Salt... project compliments this work.

The project is documenting the cultural dimensions of salinity as seen by the people who have been affected by it. It uses taped interviews, still and video images of landscapes, places and objects. This material is being used to create a website featuring audio, text, video and still images.

The project has also included the collection of some objects relating to salinity for the museum collections.
