writtenworlds

There is something very special about seeing the writing of pioneers from our early beginnings. There is something deeply moving about reading letters to loved ones from a bygone age. We are touched by old diaries, notes hastily scribbled, receipts for goods brought here on bullock wagons.

This exhibition explores collections of handwritten words spanning two centuries. It shows communication before texts, emails and tweets. We focus on words shaped with pencil, biro, coloured inks and coloured yarns. Discover tiny yet meaningful moments of history.

On display at the Museum's Historic Council Chambers site from Wednesday 1 April Until Friday 31 July 2015.
