About the Exhibition

Katha (কাথা) refers to both the traditional quilts recycled from old saris and the straight running stitch that holds them together. Hundreds of years old, the art of katha quilting was born from necessity, with poor women in Bangladesh taking discarded clothing and sewing it into something warm and beautiful.

The katha on display have been generously shared by members of our local community, offering a personal glimpse into the history, culture and traditions that continue to make this art form so meaningful.

Visit the Museum of the Riverina to discover the stories behind these remarkable works.
