About the Exhibition

When a loved one falls ill and the outlook isn’t rosy, family members often become carers. This intimate and unique storytelling exhibition gives voice to professional and family carers from around the Riverina. Their candid insights are touched with sadness, humour and hard-earned wisdom.

This exhibition aims to reduce carers’ feelings of isolation and reduce the effects of bereavement. It reveals some of the difficulties faced by carers, and helps people to better support friends and family members who are carers. As well as building capacity in our community, this project also encourages people to access local supports.

Commissioned by the Museum of the Riverina and created by digital storyteller, Pippa Wischer, the portraits and interviews in this exhibition and the accompanying book are part of the the museum’s ongoing exploration of the challenges and possible solutions to how we best care for those in their final stage of life.
