Sporting Hall of Fame - Nomination Form

The Wagga Wagga Sporting Hall of Fame recognises individuals who have achieved excellence at the highest level of their sport. Nominees must have positively represented the City of Wagga Wagga through their sporting achievements and contributed to the development of their sport locally.

To be eligible, nominees must have represented Australia (or an equivalent level where international representation is unavailable) in an open or senior capacity—whether as an athlete, coach, referee, or umpire. Additional criteria include a strong local connection through birth or long-term participation, support from relevant sporting associations, and, generally, retirement from elite-level competition.

Nominees will also be assessed on integrity, sportsmanship and character.

Selection Criteria 1 *

Provide evidence that the nominee has represented Australia, or an equivalent level (where international representation is not available), at an open or senior level in their sport. This representation may be as a player, coach, or referee/umpire, either individually or as part of a team.

Provide (to the best of your knowledge) a chronological summary of the nominee's career, including key dates, teams or clubs represented, representative honours, and major awards or achievements.

Selection Criteria 2 *

Provide evidence that the nominee was either:

Born within the Wagga Wagga Local Government Area; or
Has participated in their sport within Wagga Wagga for a minimum of five (5) years.

Selection Criteria 3 *

Provide evidence that this nomination is endorsed by the relevant local sporting association. Where no local association exists, endorsement from the appropriate state or national sporting body must be provided.

Selection Criteria 4 *

Describe how the nominee meets at least one of the following conditions:

The nominee has retired from international competition or the highest level of competition available within their sport; and/or
The nominee has achieved a particularly outstanding athletic achievement that warrants special recognition (e.g. Olympic or Commonwealth Games medallist).

Please note: This criteria is not mandatory, but you must upload supporting documentation if you complete this section.

For nominees from earlier eras, where opportunities to compete at an elite level may have been limited, provide supporting evidence and expert opinion where available. This may include:

Testimony or references from the nominee’s sporting peers (e.g. fellow competitors of the same era);
Documentation or recognition from governing bodies, associations, or professional sporting organisations.
All supporting material (e.g. letters, recordings, video, newspaper articles) must be provided and authenticated where possible.
